Wedding Celebration Ceremony

Ceremony by Diana wedding

If you’re making plans for your Wedding Ceremony or Blessing, I’m here to help. Your ceremony can be an enchanting expereince brimming with joy, laughter, and moments that will stay etched in your hearts forever. As a fully qualified celebrant, I aim to plan and conduct your highly personalised and unique ceremony that will be tailored to you both and to your values. I’m based between Scarborough and Whitby, North Yorkshire and cover all the surrounding areas.

How important is your ceremony?

The value and choice an independent celebrant can bring to a ceremony is second to none. The use of celebrants is increasing due to the demand for personalised, inclusive, and meaningful ceremonies that reflect individual values and preferences.Imagine your Wedding Ceremony built around you, that includes your love story. One where you can express your creativity, through a memorable and deeply meaningful ceremony that will be cherished for years to come. Hold it wherever you want to, at the time of day that suits you, and with as many people as you like included. With an independent celebrant, the possibilities really are endless!

What can you include?

Your ceremony can include your love story, exchange of rings, special or symbolic elements (no extra cost) such as handfasting (tying the knot), sand or rose ceremony, oathing stone or many others, plus readings, poems, even a dance/song performed by your children, and other unique additions that are personal to you. If you would like cultural or religious elements in your ceremony, that’s no problem at all. I can also help with your vows if you wish and if you would like a themed or alternative wedding – it’s no problem! Together, we’ll build it around you and make it one-of-a-kind.

With a professional, fully qualified celebrant the possibilities for your Wedding Celebration Ceremony or Wedding Blessing are limitless. For a free initial consultation, simply get in touch and I will learn what will make your day extra special, discover your hopes and dreams, and weave your story into a perfectly crafted ceremony that reflects your endless love for each other.

What about the legalities?

Weddings

In England, the legal requirements for marriage are actually very short and simple and inexpensive (currently, about £57 at a local register office with 2 witnessess) unless you want a longer service of course. You are then free to hold the ceremony of your dreams wherever you want (no need for the venue to be licensed), include whatever you like, hold it at any time of day, and have it planned and conducted by a celebrant like myself.

Many people choose to carry out the short legalities in a registration office a day or so before their actual ceremony so they can then have everything they want. You will then not be constrained by wording or framework and your ceremony won’t be boring. It can be romantic, traditional, fun or themed, and you can include anything you like.  Alternatively, the registrar can attend your venue to carry out the legal section of the ceremony and I can follow on with your personalised elements.

There is no need to exchange personal vows or rings in front of the registrar; you can save these elements for your Wedding Celebration Ceremony. It is because the ceremonies I conduct are not legally binding that they are so very flexible and can take place soon after the brief formalities. Whether it’s indoors or outdoors, at home, a hotel, stately home, boat, wood or on the beach, the possibilities really are endless.

Converting a Civil Partnership into a marriage

Groom and groom exchanging rings

If you have a same-sex civil partnership, you can convert it into a legal marriage but before holding your Wedding Celebration Ceremony, you will need to sign a conversion into marriage declaration at your local register office. After this, your ceremony can take place anywhere and be one that truly reflects your personalities and love for each other. In England and Wales you cannot convert an opposite-sex civil partnership to a marriage.

What would make your ceremony perfect? The ceremonies that I conduct are professional and flexible. Whether it’s at home surrounded by a few close friends, in a stately home or on the beach with hundreds of guests, the possibilities really are endless.

Step 3 – Carry out the legalities by contacting your local registry office to book an appointment to give Notice of Marriage, say the legal words in a brief service, in the presence of witnesses, and complete the paperwork. With formalities complete, you are free to hold your ceremony however you like.

Step 4 – Hold the Wedding Celebration Ceremony you’ve always wanted. As the officiant I will be there before you to check everything is in place and await your arrival. Then I will deliver the ceremony of your dreams.
